Burmese Bombing Forces Hundreds Of Bangladeshi To flee Border Areas
Heavy shelling from Burma along the Bandarban border district of Bangladesh has forced hundreds of families to flee for safety.
Bullets from Burma again landed inside Bangladesh’s Lemuchhari and Bahirmath areas Saturday violating the border, according to fleeing locals.
The shelling occurred in a roughly 12-mile area near the border in Burmese territory, they added.
More than 150 families in the border area fled seeking a safe place Saturday night.
Salma Ferdous, a local official, told Anadolu Agency families along the border have been asked to evacuate after shelling started.
She said the situation remained stable Sunday morning.
