Breakthrough in research: Manuka honey slashes breast cancer cell growth by 84%
Manuka honey, known for its medicinal properties, is now making headlines for its effect on breast cancer cells.
Research from the Los Angeles Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center reveals that the honey derived from the Manuka tree in New Zealand and Australia reduced tumor growth in mice by 84%.
Unlike traditional treatments, Manuka honey did not harm normal cells or cause major side effects.
The study, published in Nutrients, highlights Manuka honey’s potential as a natural, less toxic alternative to chemotherapy, particularly for ER-positive breast cancer.
Combining Manuka honey with the anti-estrogen drug tamoxifen further suppressed cancer cell growth and showed promise against triple-negative breast cancer.
