Blinken meets Arab foreign ministers in Cairo to seek cease-fire in Gaza
Arab foreign ministers and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met in Cairo seeking to broker a cease-fire in Gaza.
Attendees included officials from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, and the Palestine Authority.
Blinken’s discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized cease-fire negotiations.
Blinken previously met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to discuss a Palestinian state and Israeli security.
However, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry criticized Blinken’s efforts, accusing Israel of exploiting the talks to escalate aggression.
The Egyptian leader warned of grave consequences from any Israeli ground attack on Rafah city.
More than 1.4 million people have taken refuge there from Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Cyprus is hosting a conference of 36 countries to expedite aid delivery to Gaza via sea routes.
