Blinken discusses West Bank situation with Kuwaiti counterpart
WASHINGTON (AA) – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone call Tuesday with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
“Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the strategic nature of the U.S.-Kuwait partnership and highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation on regional issues,” State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said in a statement following the phone call.
“Secretary Blinken updated the Foreign Minister on U.S. efforts to work with Israeli, Palestinian and regional partners to deescalate the situation in the West Bank,” the statement said.
The two also discussed the need to “support humanitarian priorities both in the region and globally,” according to the statement.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids on Palestinian towns.
