Binational mass held at US-Mexico border honors deceased migrants
A binational mass was held on the border between Mexico and the United States to honor the 146 migrants who died during the fiscal year 2023.
The ceremony took place on the river dividing the two nations.
It is a tradition spanning over two decades, and aims to pay tribute to deceased migrants while expressing solidarity with those still in transit.
The mass was led by Bishop Jose Guadalupe Torres Campos of Ciudad Juarez, alongside Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso and Bishop Peter Baldacchino of Las Cruces.
The bishops emphasized unity between communities on both sides of the border, underscoring that faith and love for migrants transcend the physical and political barriers.
Bishop Campos advocated for fair migration policies that uphold human dignity and offer clear solutions and support for migrants.
