Biden Sending 3,000 Troops To Eastern Europe: Pentagon
U.S. President Joe Biden is sending thousands of troops to Eastern Europe this week amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday the U.S. stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its NATO allies.
He said the situation along Ukraine’s border demands Washington reinforce “the deterrent and defensive posture” on NATO’s eastern flank.
Kirby said 1,000 American soldiers based in Germany will be redirected to Romania in the coming days to increase the 900 U.S. forces already there.
About 2,000 troops will be moving from North Carolina to Poland and Germany.
