Biden Says He Will Designate Qatar As Major Non-Nato U.S. Ally
U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday designated Qatar as a major non-NATO ally.
Biden spoke alongside Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani at the White House.
He said Doha has been central to vital American interests, including aiding the U.S. mission in Afghanistan and providing assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip.
The partnership also has kept pressure on ISIS militants in the region, he said.
The U.S. and Qatar are marking the 50th anniversary of their bilateral relationship.
