Biden Says “Butcher Putin’ Cannot Remain In Power
U.S. President Joe Biden on Saturday called Russia’s war on Ukraine a “strategic failure” for Moscow.
Biden spoke during a two-day visit to the Polish capital of Warsaw, Ukraine’s largest neighbor directly to the West.
After calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a “butcher” earlier Saturday, Biden predicted Russia’s latest war will end in its defeat.
He ended his remarks by saying Putin “cannot remain in power.”
Later, a White House official attempted to clarify the president’s remark, downplaying any suggestion that Biden was encouraging regime change in Russia.
Regarding economic sanctions on Russia, Biden said Russia soon will drop out of the list of the world’s top 20 economies.
He also said Russians are not the enemy.
