Biden pushes AI revolution on federal lands
Outgoing President Joe Biden has signed an executive order to boost artificial intelligence infrastructure across the U.S.
The order allows the Departments of Defense and Energy to lease federal lands for gigawatt-scale AI data centers.
Biden called it a historic move to advance economic competitiveness, national security, AI safety, and clean energy, while maintaining environmental standards.
Private companies can bid to build, own, and operate AI centers on selected federal lands.
They must fund the projects fully and provide clean energy to offset massive energy consumption.
Biden emphasized the initiative aims to accelerate the clean energy transition responsibly without burdening American families.
