Bangladesh Shuts Largest School In Rohingya Camps
On Monday, officials said Bangladesh has shut the largest private school for Rohingya refugees.
Since December, Bangladeshi authorities have been shutting down schools set up by the Rohingya, and late last week closed Kayaphuri School.
The school was set up by Mohib Ullah, a prominent Rohingya community leader allegedly gunned down in September by a Rohingya militant group.
The move comes as an added blow to the educational prospects of thousands of children stuck in vast camps in the country’s southeast.
Bangladesh as a policy does not allow Rohingya children study beyond a third grade.
Bangladesh has been sheltering about a million Rohingya refugees from neighboring Burma since the genocide of Rohingyas in 2017.
