Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation Highlights Kingdom’s Heritage and Artistic Innovation
WASHINGTON (MNTV) – Bahrain’s vibrant cultural identity took center stage at Harvard University as the Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation presented a lecture titled “Sources of the Tree of Life”, offering insights into the Kingdom’s rich heritage and contemporary creative vision.
Held on April 6 as part of the “Spatial Design Strategies for Climate- and Conflict-Induced Migration” course at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the lecture featured the Foundation’s Director and Cultural Advisor, Yasmine Sharabi, as the keynote speaker.
The session was moderated by French curator Anissa Touati and explored the intersection of climate change, migration, and spatial design.
Sharabi used the platform to highlight Bahrain’s evolving cultural landscape, emphasizing the role of the Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation in empowering a new generation of artists and creatives.
She outlined the foundation’s mission to build a sustainable and inclusive cultural narrative rooted in Bahraini identity.
Among the foundation’s major initiatives discussed were the Art Station project in Muharraq Souq and the upcoming museum dedicated to contemporary art from the Middle East and North Africa.
Sharabi also underscored the foundation’s broader commitment to fostering critical discourse and artistic innovation in the region.
“Receiving the invitation from Harvard University is both a personal honor and a reflection of the growing cultural momentum in Bahrain,” Sharabi said.
“We are reimagining our cultural landscape through creative and conscious engagement, bridging our rich heritage with an ambitious future.”
She affirmed the foundation’s dedication to supporting emerging artists, architects, and designers, and encouraging their involvement in Bahrain’s social and urban transformation.
“Representing the Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation at Harvard allowed us to share our work with a global academic audience and reinforce Bahrain’s status as a dynamic hub for cultural thought and artistic expression,” she added.
