Art Dubai returns with multicultural focus and digital innovation
18th edition to feature over 120 galleries and cutting-edge AI exhibitions, bringing artists from across the globe
DUBAI (MNTV) – Art Dubai, one of the region’s leading international art fairs, is set to return for its 18th edition from April 18 to 20, bringing together more than 120 galleries from the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
This year’s program features a comprehensive range of curated exhibitions, panel discussions, book launches, guided tours, and interactive installations, in what is anticipated to be one of its most globally inclusive editions to date.
The event continues to position itself as a prominent platform for cultural exchange and contemporary artistic discourse, reported the UAE sources.
Art Dubai Modern will spotlight significant modern art practices from the Global South, while Bawwaba—meaning “gateway” in Arabic—curated by Mirjam Varadinis, will showcase 10 solo presentations exploring themes of identity, migration, and displacement.
Art Dubai Digital, the fair’s pioneering digital section developed in partnership with Dubai Culture, will examine the impact of artificial intelligence and immersive technologies on the future of art.
Curated by Gonzalo Herrero Delicado, the section carries the theme “After the Technological Sublime,” and features installations by Hybrid Xperience, Breakfast, and Ouchhh Studio alongside 22 local and international digital art platforms.
Delicado described the curatorial theme as a contemporary reinterpretation of the sublime, contrasting historical exploration with today’s data-driven era of digital media and global connectivity.
Artistic Director Pablo del Val noted a significant increase in both the number and caliber of participating galleries this year, including 30 first-time exhibitors.
“What’s especially exciting this year is the maturity and diversity in the artworks on display,” he said. “There is a vibrancy and richness that reflect our complex world, ranging from themes of technological evolution to a collective yearning for escapism.”
The event reaffirms Dubai’s role as a regional and global hub for contemporary and digital art, offering an inclusive platform for emerging and established artists to engage with a growing international audience.
