Arab delegates laud China’s Xinjiang policies amid criticism
A delegation of Arab politicians, including members from Palestine, Syria, Egypt, and other countries, visited Xinjiang, China, and praised China’s policies in the region.
Led by Bassam Zakarneh from Palestine, the delegation highlighted Xinjiang’s development and stability, refuting claims of Uyghur persecution.
However, experts and Uyghur rights advocates criticized the visit for overlooking the alleged abuses against Uyghur Muslims.
Chinese media reported the delegates’ positive remarks about the northwestern Chinese region’s governance and economic progress, dismissing Western accusations as propaganda.
Critics argue China controlled the delegation’s access to conceal the reality of Uyghur oppression.
Despite concerns, China aims to use such visits to garner support from Muslim nations and expand its influence in the Middle East.
Critics emphasize the importance of independent investigations to uncover the truth about the situation of Uyghurs.
