Another Islamophobic film rolls out in India
NEW DELHI, India – After “Kashmir Files” and “Kerala Story,” India’s Bollywood film industry is launching another Islamophobic film, “72 Hoorain.”
The film’s teaser, released recently, showed images of Osama Bin Laden and others involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and the 1993 bombings.
The trailer of the Bollywood film was shared on Twitter by Ashoke Pandit, the co-director of the film, who is known for his anti-Islamic views.
This is the third film in less than a year that deals with Islamic extremism.
Interestingly, these films were promoted by India’s Hindu nationalist government, which made them tax-free in several states.
Opposition leaders have accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using these films for its own political agenda.
Prominent international filmmakers, no less than from Israel, called Kashmir Files a propaganda and vulgar film.
Experts say that these films aim to incite hatred against Muslims and distort events to suit an anti-Muslim agenda.
The film 72 Hoorain, starring Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir, deals with the consequences of religious fanaticism.
The filmmakers say they have depicted the gradual poisoning of the mind by the perpetrators that turns ordinary people into suicide bombers.
According to posts on social media, the film incorrectly mentions that the World Trade Center attack took place in 2011, while it occurred in 2008.
Critics say that the producers of the film were in such a hurry to launch this Islamophobic film that they got the date wrong.
