Amazon strike spreads to seven delivery hubs nationwide
Amazon workers, led by the Teamsters union, have expanded their strike to seven delivery hubs across the U.S.
They are demanding higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions.
Around 200 union members demonstrated at an Amazon center in Queens last Friday.
The Staten Island JFK8 warehouse joined the strike, marking the second New York facility to participate.
Strikes have also spread to hubs in Southern California, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Skokie, Illinois.
The walkout follows Amazon’s refusal to negotiate after the union’s contract deadline expired.
While Amazon insists the strike has not disrupted holiday shipments, the union claims the company has ignored bargaining efforts.
The Teamsters union represents about 10,000 Amazon workers and expects the strike to grow.
Amazon maintains the striking drivers are contractors, not direct employees.
