Algeria makes major strides in pharmaceutical industry development
BOUIRA, Algeria (MNTV) – Algeria has achieved significant progress in its pharmaceutical industry and medicine manufacturing sector through multiple projects launched across the country in recent years.
The nation is steadily reducing its reliance on imported medical products by boosting local production of medicines, medical devices, and chemical inputs, Algerian Press Service reported.
During a visit to Bouira province, the expansion of Algeria’s pharmaceutical capabilities was evident, particularly in Oued El Bardi, where plants such as Rosaspharm and Magpharm now produce around 200 pharmaceutical reagents.
This local production marks a crucial step in cutting Algeria’s import bill, which currently includes 129,000 pharmaceutical products.
With strong potential in both human expertise and natural resources, Algeria is well-positioned to further develop its pharmaceutical sector.
Industrial operators are being encouraged to invest more in medical manufacturing, reinforcing the country’s push toward self-sufficiency in healthcare products.
The growing domestic production capacity reflects Algeria’s broader strategy to strengthen its pharmaceutical independence while fostering industrial growth in the sector.
