Algeria launches investor network to boost start-ups, innovation
Annaba Innovation Center spearheads initiative to attract private funding and strengthen the country’s tech-driven economy
ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) – Algeria has launched a new investment network aimed at financing start-ups and fostering innovation, as part of its broader efforts to develop a knowledge-based economy and strengthen its position in Africa’s tech sector.
The initiative, unveiled by Noureddine Ouadah, Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-enterprises, is spearheaded by the Annaba Innovation Center (AIC).
Located in northeastern Algeria on the Mediterranean coast, Annaba is one of the country’s key industrial and economic hubs.
Ouadah announced the launch while attending the 4th Algerian Fair of Entrepreneurship, Training, and Digital Economy (ACF) in Algiers.
He described the initiative as a “game-changer” for Algeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, emphasizing its role in attracting private investors to fund high-potential start-ups and tech ventures.
“This initiative will not only support young entrepreneurs but also strengthen Algeria’s knowledge economy, positioning the country as a leader in innovation and technology across Africa,” Ouadah said.
He also called for similar networks to be established across Algeria to drive investment in the country’s digital transformation.
During his visit to the ACF Fair, the minister engaged with start-up founders and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to removing obstacles that hinder business growth.
He praised the event as a vital platform for networking and investment, bringing together over 90 exhibitors, including start-ups, incubators, specialized training institutions, and financial support organizations.
The three-day ACF Fair, organized by Algerian tech firm Galacticom, features expert-led discussions on digitalization, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity—key sectors driving Algeria’s economic diversification.
The event serves as a hub for collaboration, offering entrepreneurs opportunities to secure funding, gain industry insights, and expand their businesses in an increasingly digital world.
