Al Jazeera journalist released after 4 years of detention in Egypt
ANKARA (AA) – Al Jazeera journalist Hisham Abdelaziz was released after being held for almost four years in pre-trial detention in Egypt, the Doha-based news network announced on Monday.
Abdelaziz, an Egyptian journalist who works for Al Jazeera’s Mubasher channel, was released early Monday.
Abdelaziz was arrested in June 2019 while traveling from Qatar to Cairo for a family visit, according to Al Jazeera.
There is no confirmation yet from Egyptian authorities.
Other Al Jazeera journalists Bahaa Eldin Ibrahim and Rabie el-Sheikh remain in detention in Egypt, according to the Qatari broadcaster.
