Afghan returnees receive land from Taliban administration
The Taliban-led Afghanistan administration has started giving land to Afghan refugees who have returned from Pakistan and Iran.
This initiative involves distributing agricultural and residential plots as part of a broader scheme to help these repatriates reintegrate.
Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban’s representative, said the program aims to provide necessary facilities for the returnees.
He launched the land distribution process officially in Zabul province’s Sheikh Mati settlement.
This settlement has prepared around 1,000 acres of land for more than 5,000 Afghan returnees.
This move follows large-scale repatriations by Pakistan and Iran, despite concerns expressed by the UNHCR about the protection of vulnerable refugees.
