Biden Calls India ‘Shaky’ In Russia Confrontation
U.S. President Joe Biden Monday called India’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine “shaky.”
Biden lauded the U.S.-led alliance, including NATO, the European Union and key Asian partners, for putting up a united front against Russian’s aggression.
That includes unprecedented sanctions aimed at crippling Russia’s currency, international trade, and access to high-tech goods.
Unlike Australia, Japan and the U.S., India continues to purchase Russian oil and has refused to join votes condemning Moscow at the United Nations.
Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin was “counting on being able to split NATO.”
An Indian government official said last week the world’s third-biggest consumer of crude oil relies on imports for almost 85% of its needs and Russia supplies less than 1%.
