UK premier to visit Poland, Estonia
LONDON (AA) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will visit Poland and Estonia on Tuesday to hold talks about the situation in Ukraine, his spokesman said on Monday.
Johnson will also meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to evaluate the latest situation in the Ukraine-Russia war.
The confirmation of Johnson’s trip to Eastern Europe and the Baltics came after a cabinet meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, the prime minister said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had made a “colossal mistake” believing his troops would be “garlanded with roses” by Ukrainians.
Since Russia-Ukraine war began last Thursday, Moscow has been met by an outcry from the international community, with the EU, UK, and US implementing a range of economic sanctions against Russia.
Russia was further isolated after its planes were barred from flying in European and Canadian airspace, and several of its banks were kicked out of the SWIFT international banking system.
At least 102 civilians have so far been killed in Ukraine and more than 500,000 others have fled the country, according to UN officials on Monday.
