Turkiye, Azerbaijan to facilitate negotioan leadership to facilitate negotiations between Russia, Ukraine
Turkish and Azerbaijani leadership will start negotiations with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
Zelenskyy’s remarks came at a video message shared on his social media account where he commented on the latest developments in his country following the Russian intervention.
The Ukrainian leader said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told him they would help start negotiations with Russia, adding his country welcomed this offer.
He also exchanged views with the leaders of Switzerland, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, and India and noted that Ukraine gained the sincerity and attention of the ‘civilized world’ as the conflict with Russia raged.
The Ukrainian president added that the results of the SWIFT sanctions against Russia had been achieved, that is, Russia has been isolated from the global finance structure which will inflict billions of dollars of loss for the Russian economy.
Reports indicate ongoing clashes between Russian and Ukrainian troops in the capital Kiev.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered the military intervention on February 24, days after recognizing two separatist-held regions in eastern Ukraine.
