British Parliament Passes An ‘Islamophobic’ Law
A recently passed amendment to the UK’s public service pension schemes is being slammed as a “deliberate assault” on the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions or BDS movement.
BDS is a Palestinian-led movement promoting boycotts, divestments, and economic sanctions against Israel for its human rights violations and practice of apartheid against Palestinians.
The controversial amendment was proposed by the former U.K. Tory minister Robert Jenrick.
It passed with 296 MPs voting in favor and 81 against.
It was co-sponsored by three Labor parliamentarians despite an instruction to abstain.
Twenty-two other Labor members of parliament broke the whip to vote against a ban on boycotts of Israel in public pension funds.
