1 killed, 2 injured in Somalia explosion
One Ethiopian soldier was killed and two others wounded in a bomb blast targeting peacekeeping forces of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
A landmine was planted near a well in Wajid, a town in southwestern Somalia, used frequently by Ethiopian soldiers deployed in the area.
“The explosion killed one soldier on the spot. The two others injured have been taken to hospital,” an eye witness.
The Ethiopian military and AMISOM are yet to comment on the attack, which has been claimed by the al-Shabaab group.
The Somali military has recently ramped up operations against al-Shabaab, which is affiliated with the al-Qaeda network.
