Turkiye kills 6 PKK men in northern Syria
ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkiye killed six PKK members in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Friday.
The “terrorists” were preparing for an attack on the Operation Olive Branch area, the ministry said on Twitter.
Since 2016, Ankara has launched a trio of anti-terror operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of what it calls a terror corridor and enable the settlement of residents: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019).
Turkiye alleges that the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by the US, and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 of its people over the last 35 years.
