Turkish Protesters Speak Out Against Greek Pushback Of Migrants
Hundreds of people protested Saturday in Istanbul as human rights organizations gathered outside the Greek consulate.
They carried signs and banners, and chanted slogans.
Representatives of human rights groups criticized Greece’s refugee policy.
Kenan Alpay, Deputy Chairman of the humanitarian group Ozgur-Der, said they gathered to protest the “barbaric policies” implemented by Greece against refugees and immigrants.
Alpay said Greece hosts those who attempted a coup in Turkey and fled with their weapons.
He called on the Greek government to abandon these “ugly policies.”
Nineteen irregular migrants were found frozen to death near the border last week.
