Liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to Retire
Stephen Breyer, one of three liberal justices on the US Supreme Court, plans to retire.
Breyer, 83, plans to step down at the end of the current term, which ends in June, the NBC and CNN television networks reported.
Breyer’s retirement will pave the way for President Joe Biden to nominate a replacement on the nation’s highest court, which is currently split between six conservatives and three liberals.
President Biden during his campaign had committed to appointing a black woman to the Supreme Court.
