INDONESIAN MUSLIM CLERIC GETS FIVE MONTHS IN JAIL FOR BIBLE-BASHING
An Indonesian court sentenced a Muslim cleric to five months in prison for blasphemy against Christians.
Muhammad Yahya Waloni is a Muslim convert from Christianity.
On Jan. 11, a South Jakarta District Court convicted Waloni of posting hate speech online that could cause interreligious divisions.
Waloni called the Holy Bible a work of fiction in one of his sermons posted on YouTube.
He was ordered to pay a fine of $3,600 or risk another month in prison.
Petrus Selestinus, a Catholic layman and chairman of a lawyers’ group, said Waloni got off lightly.
