Singapore to guide Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines on uplifting Muslim minorities
Muslim Affairs Minister says regional neighbors keen to learn from Singapore’s model
SINGAPORE (MNTV) – As Southeast Asia’s Muslim minority communities seek new ways to grow and thrive, Singapore is stepping forward to share its experience in building a resilient and forward-looking Muslim community.
Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Masagos Zulkifli announced that Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines will be the first participants in the Community of Success Programme 2.0, set to launch later this year, Channel News Asia reports.
Speaking at the annual Hari Raya Get-Together, Masagos said the program will include mosque-based youth mentoring, community leadership training, and scholarship opportunities for Muslim students from the participating countries.
He also unveiled plans for a new Forum for Regional Communities of Success to deepen collaboration and knowledge-sharing across borders.
Masagos praised Singapore’s Muslim community for its growing role in international humanitarian efforts, including nearly $2 million raised recently through the Aid for Gaza campaign led by the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation.
“These efforts show how our community can uplift others beyond Singapore,” he said, expressing hope that similar successes can take root across the region.
