Kazakhstan clinch second place in Women’s World Boxing Championship
ASTANA, Kazakhstan (MNTV) — Kazakhstan made history at the Women’s World Boxing Championship in Niš, Serbia, securing second place with an impressive six-medal haul.
The tournament, held from March 9-16, featured top athletes from 51 countries.
According to Kursive Media, Kazakhstan clinched three gold medals, two silver, and one bronze. Nazym Kyzaibay (48 kg), Alua Balkybekova (50 kg), and Aida Abikeyeva (63 kg) took home gold, while Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60 kg) and Eldana Talipova (+81 kg) won silver. Natalia Bogdanova (70 kg) secured bronze.
Kyzaibay’s victory was particularly historic, as she became the first Kazakhstani boxer to win three world championship titles, solidifying her status as one of the nation’s most decorated athletes.
In addition, three Kazakhstan boxers earned world championship medals for the first time.
The team competed in 35 bouts and won 26.
Russia topped the overall standings with four gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
