Malaysian brands attracting large crowds in Thailand ahead of Eid
PATTANI, Thailand (MNTV) — Malaysian fashion brands are experiencing overwhelming demand in Thailand’s southern provinces as local Muslims prepare for the upcoming Aidilfitri (Eid ul Fitr) celebrations.
Renowned Malaysian brands such as Elrah Exclusive, Bulan Bintang, Anggun, Gadis Hijabistahub, and Aisy Asyraf are attracting large crowds at their boutiques, particularly on weekends, The Malaysian Reserve reported.
One customer, Abdul Hakim Sabudin, 19, from Banan Seta District in Yala, travelled around 100 kilometres to Pattani to purchase his preferred Baju Melayu, which is the national dress of Malaysia.
“I love Malaysian Malay attire because of its modern designs that align with current fashion trends.
“This is my third consecutive year travelling to Pattani to buy new clothes for Aidilfitri,” he said.
According to Abdul Hakim, Malaysian traditional wear is affordable, high-quality, and available in various designs and sizes.
Another customer, Wae Nurman Madiyah, 27, noted that Malaysian fashion brands are now the top choice among young Muslim women in Thailand due to their quality and contemporary designs.
“In the past, people had to travel to Malaysia to get these brands. But now, many Malaysian brands have opened branches in Pattani. Promotions such as buy-one-get-one-free have also attracted many shoppers, especially from Yala and Narathiwat,” she said.
Meanwhile, Fadilah Sahat, 29, a staff member at a Malaysian clothing store, said they had to limit the number of customers inside the shop due to space constraints.
“Every day, crowds of customers pour in. To avoid congestion, especially during checkout, our store manager has instructed that only a limited number of customers be allowed inside at a time,” she explained.
