UAE’s Sharjah unveils adventure park to boost tourism appeal
With thrilling outdoor attractions, the emirate of Sharjah strengthens its position as a key player in sustainable and innovative tourism in the UAE
SHARJAH, UAE (MNTV) – The emirate of Sharjah, part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is expanding its tourism sector with a new adventure park in Khor Fakkan, a scenic coastal town known for its outdoor activities.
The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is spearheading this project as part of a broader initiative to elevate the emirate’s appeal as a top-tier travel destination, according to Khaleej Times.
Named Al Jabal Adventures, the park will feature a zipline, giant swings, Stobel gun rides, and extensive hiking and biking trails. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, said Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq.
Khor Fakkan, a rising hub for hiking, scuba diving, and eco-tourism, is an ideal setting for this latest venture. Al Qaseer emphasized that Shurooq’s focus is on creating unique, high-quality experiences rather than simply expanding hotel capacities.
Alongside the adventure park, Shurooq is also launching three new hotels by 2025, including a 35-key safari hotel linked to Sharjah Safari, the world’s largest safari park outside Africa, and a 45-key mountain retreat in Khor Fakkan.
Beyond adventure tourism, Sharjah is investing in cultural heritage projects. The transformation of Mleiha, an archaeological site with evidence of human habitation dating back 200,000 years, is part of these efforts. The Mleiha National Park, spanning 34 square kilometers, features artifacts from ancient civilizations, a museum, and unique desert experiences.
With its expanding portfolio in hospitality, culture, and adventure tourism, Sharjah continues to solidify its status as a premier destination, blending history, nature, and innovation.
