Uzbekistan launches 1st large-scale aluminum can production plant
$90 million project to produce 2.2 billion cans annually, boost exports, and create 500 jobs.
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) – Uzbekistan is set to establish its first large-scale aluminum can production plant as part of the East Can Solutions project.
The facility, spanning 21 hectares in Tashkent’s Yangihayat district, will cover 100,000 square meters of production space.
According to Qalampir.uz, the total investment in the project amounts to $90 million, with $18 million in loans provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The plant is expected to create up to 500 jobs and begin operations in June 2025. More than 30% of the products will be exported.
The production complex will operate under a vertically integrated model with two key divisions:
Aluminum can production – Annual capacity of 2.2 billion cans, with 1.1 billion in the first phase.
Bottling operations – Up to 650.9 million beverages annually in aluminum cans and PET packaging.
By localizing aluminum can production, Uzbekistan aims to replace imports and achieve self-sufficiency. The country’s strategic location will allow exports to Central Asia and the Caucasus, strengthening its regional position.
“The implementation of this project opens new opportunities to meet domestic demand, create high value-added products, and support local businesses. Preferential tax terms, subsidies, and ready infrastructure within the special industrial zone have created favorable conditions for local production,” said Alexander Pashkeev.
The total production value is projected to exceed $300 million. High automation, using U.S. and European equipment, will ensure cost-efficiency and competitiveness.
Environmental sustainability is also a priority. Aluminum containers, known for their recyclability, provide an eco-friendly packaging solution. The facility will supply the Uzbek market and attract international brands seeking local production.
Over 30% of the output will be exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, and other CIS countries, with the company aiming to increase annual export revenue to $50 million.
