Meydene theater set to host shows celebrating Moroccan culture and art
A vibrant mix of comedy, tragedy, and music will highlight Morocco’s rich heritage
MARRAKECH, Morocco (MNTV) – Meydene Theater in Marrakech is gearing up for an exciting month of performances that celebrate Moroccan culture, offering a rich blend of humor, drama, and music.
The lineup promises to unsettle traditional opinions while delivering enormous fun and unforgettable experiences.
Kicking off the series on March 10 and 11, the renowned comedy troupe Les Inqualifiables will take the stage with their latest show, “Entre Amis.”
The performance blends sharp wit, iconic punchlines, and infectious energy, making it a tribute to friendship and camaraderie.
On March 13, the focus shifts to “Saken,” a poignant tragicomedy inspired by Sidi Kaddour El Alami’s poem “Dar.”
Directed by Hassan Hammouch, the play explores themes of greed, redemption, and Moroccan identity through the tale of Abdelhaq, a man trapped by his own deceit.
Featuring actors like Samia Akariou, Nora Skalli, and Abdellah Didane, this production promises a moving exploration of human nature.
Meydene’s offerings continue with a spiritual concert on March 19, “The Voice of the Soul,” where Ali El Medydy’s evocative voice will take the audience on an introspective journey through sacred and profane melodies, setting the stage for the holy month of Ramadan.
On March 21, Fehd Benchemsi and Les Lallas will bring a captivating musical performance, blending traditional Moroccan sounds with modern rhythms, enhanced by the lead of Hamza Raïs.
March 22 sees the Tensift troupe performing “Sarh Massjounak” (Free Your Prisoner), a comedy directed by Hassan Hammouch.
The play delves into the struggles of El Ghalia, a woman navigating the complexities of her household, exploring themes of tradition versus personal freedom.
The month-long celebration will culminate on March 29 with a tribute to the Aïssawa Sufi brotherhood, led by Lhaj Saïd Berrada and his ensemble.
Their performance, blending spiritual trance and rhythmic intensity, will create a sacred atmosphere that transforms the Meydene stage into a space for collective reflection.
