Egypt promotes Ramadan tourism with campaign highlighting cultural heritage
Effort aims to attract Arab tourists and enhance domestic tourism during the holy month
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) – Egypt has launched a month-long campaign to showcase the cultural and spiritual essence of Ramadan.
Known for its vibrant atmosphere, Ramadan in Egypt features glowing lanterns, traditional delicacies, and bustling streets alive with history and festivity.
Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities leads the initiative.
The initiative, titled “Egypt’s Spirit in Ramadan,” seeks to attract tourists from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, and Bahrain while encouraging Egyptians to explore the country’s unique Ramadan traditions.
The campaign highlights these elements to promote the country’s rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality.
Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA), said the campaign aligns with the ministry’s digital marketing goals to revitalize tourism.
It leverages platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, along with the Shahid streaming service, to reach audiences.
A dedicated webpage showcases Ramadan celebrations and key tourist attractions.
Central to the campaign is a promotional video highlighting Egypt’s diverse offerings, supported by short clips featuring Egyptian and Arab influencers sharing their Ramadan experiences.
The videos are also displayed across terminals at Cairo International Airport to captivate visitors upon arrival.
Nasreen Osmanli, advisor to the ETA for airport affairs, noted that this ensures tourists are introduced to Egypt’s appeal from the moment they land.
Suzanne Mostafa, General Director of Tourism Promotion at the ETA, emphasized that the campaign celebrates Egypt’s unique Ramadan customs, blending festivity with spirituality.
From its lively streets to iconic landmarks, the experience offers a profound connection to the country’s heritage.
With this initiative, Egypt reaffirms its dedication to promoting cultural richness and hospitality, inviting visitors to celebrate Ramadan in an atmosphere of joy and discovery.
