Saudi Arabia enhances urban landscape with new sculptures by Italian artist
Art installation in Riyadh emphasizes the connection between nature, wildlife, and urban development
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – Riyadh Art has unveiled a new public art installation at Al-Nafal Park in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
The initiative aims to enrich the city’s cultural identity while fostering a stronger connection between nature and urban development.
The collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Saudi Arabia brings sculptures by renowned Italian artist Davide Rivalta to the city.
The installation, titled Echoes of Land, features lifelike representations of animals, including a cheetah, lion, lioness, and buffalo.
These sculptures are seamlessly integrated into the park’s desert surroundings, creating an engaging dialogue between the environment and the art.
The works highlight the delicate balance between nature and human development, encouraging viewers to reflect on the importance of environmental conservation.
Drawing inspiration from native symbols, including the cheetah once indigenous to the Arabian Peninsula, the installation raises awareness about endangered species and the need to protect their habitats.
It serves as a reminder of the profound relationship between humans and the natural world.
Omar AlBraik, senior director of Public Art at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), emphasized how the collaboration aligns with Riyadh Art’s broader mission of transforming public spaces.
He described art as a powerful tool that fosters community engagement, sparks conversation, and deepens the connection between people and their surroundings.
This latest addition is part of Riyadh Art’s ongoing effort to transform Riyadh into a dynamic open-air gallery.
Since its launch in 2019, the initiative has introduced over 550 public artworks, collaborated with 500 local and international artists, and hosted more than 6,500 community events.
As the program continues to grow, it aims to create a vibrant urban environment that reflects Saudi Arabia’s cultural evolution, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
