Morocco explores AI’s transformative role in cultural industries

CASABLANCA, Morocco (MNTV) — A recent forum in Casablanca brought together European Union officials, industry leaders, and Moroccan stakeholders to discuss the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on cultural and creative industries.
Organized by the Federation of Cultural and Creative Industries (FICC) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the event highlighted AI’s potential to drive innovation, enhance competitiveness, and create opportunities in the sector.
Daniele Dotto, deputy head of the EU Delegation to Morocco, emphasized AI’s role in fostering creativity and innovation, particularly for young people.
However, he also noted the challenges it poses in areas like intellectual property rights and cultural preservation.
FICC President Neila Tazi called AI a game-changer for the creative sector, revolutionizing content creation and audience engagement.
She also cautioned against ethical risks, the potential loss of cultural diversity, and standardization as AI reshapes artistic production.
Nadim Sadek, founder and CEO of Shimmr AI, shared practical applications of AI in immersive cultural content, describing the technology as an unstoppable force that is becoming integral to creativity and daily life.
Part of the broader Morocco-EU partnership, the forum explored strategies to help cultural professionals and decision-makers navigate AI’s challenges and opportunities.
As Morocco’s cultural industries grow in economic significance, the forum emphasized balancing technological advancement with ethical and cultural considerations.
