Salalah Free Zone showcases Omani innovation at ‘Made in Salalah’ exhibition
Salalah Free Zone empowers local initiatives by helping them find global business platforms
SALALAH, OMAN (MNTV) – The Salalah Free Zone (SFZ) inaugurated the “Made in Salalah Free Zone” exhibition in the Wilayat of Salalah, in celebration of Omani Industry Day, observed annually on February 9.
Salalah Free Zone is one of Oman’s major industrial and investment hubs and home to multinational corporations, regional enterprises and local businesses.
The event highlighted SFZ’s pivotal role in promoting Omani products, boosting industrial investments, and enhancing global competitiveness through cutting-edge infrastructure and a business-friendly environment.
Featuring 32 companies from sectors including pharmaceuticals, food, and petrochemicals, the exhibition celebrated the diversity of Oman’s industrial landscape.
Workshops on skill development, quality improvement, and productivity enhancement added depth to the occasion.
Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Tabouk, CEO of SFZ, reiterated the zone’s commitment to empowering Omani industries and expanding their global reach.
He noted that SFZ currently hosts 41 industrial projects across 6.2 million square meters, with industrial ventures comprising 60% of its $12 billion total investments.
Dr. Tabouk revealed that SFZ has attracted total investments worth $12 billion, achieving a compound annual growth rate of 40 percent over the past five years.
With an impressive compound annual growth rate of 40% over five years, the zone has created over 3,000 direct jobs, maintaining a 9% annual employment growth rate and an Omanisation rate of 34%.
Omanisation is a nationalization program policy introduced by the Omani government in 1988 to replace foreign workers with trained Omani nationals.
This exhibition not only celebrated local innovation but also underscored Oman’s dedication to advancing its industrial sector and fostering opportunities for local talent.
