Trump warns of truce collapse if prisoners not freed
President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning, suggesting the ceasefire in Gaza should be scrapped if all Israeli prisoners are not released by noon Saturday.
Trump said “If they’re not all back by then, all hell will break out.”
He stressed that partial releases would not be acceptable and suggested many prisoners might already be dead.
When pressed on whether Israel would retaliate, he responded “Hamas will find out.”
Hamas’ armed wing said this week it will delay the release of three Israeli captives until further notice.
The spokesman for the Iz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades Abu Ubaida said Israel has violated the terms of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on Jan. 19.
He said Israel has delayed the return of displaced persons to northern Gaza, attacked with bombs and live fire throughout Gaza, and did not bring in aid materials as agreed.
Hamas says Israel must fulfill its obligations and retroactively compensate for violations over the past few weeks.
