Iran marks 46 years of Islamic revolution
Iran celebrated the 46th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution on Monday.
Tens of thousands gathered in the capital Tehran, marching from Enqelab Square to Azadi Square.
President Masoud Pezeshkian and top officials joined the march, chanting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.
Missiles and satellites were displayed along the route.
Protesters trampled an Israeli flag while waving Iranian, Palestinian, Yemeni, Hezbollah, and Hashd al-Shaabi flags.
After reaching Azadi Square, leaders delivered speeches marking the revolution that toppled Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
The 1979 uprising, led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, replaced Iran’s pro-U.S. monarchy with an Islamic Republic, shifting its policies away from the West.
The revolution reshaped Iran’s political and social landscape, influencing the broader Middle East.
