Egypt’s digital billboard and screen advertising market surpasses $119 M
With an enormous increase from the last year, Egypt’s OOH market brings promise of a better commerce landscape, allowing services to be advertised to relevant consumers
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) – Egypt’s out-of-home (OOH) advertising market has experienced a substantial 53% growth in 2024, with total expenditure rising to $ 119 million, up from $85 million in 2023, according to a report by AdMazad, the developer of AdMetrics, the country’s leading OOH advertising performance measurement and analytics tool.
The comprehensive report, based on audits of over 50,000 billboards across Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta, Mansoura, Zagazig, and the North Coast, attributes this remarkable growth to increased demand for OOH advertising spaces and shifts in consumer behaviour.
A growing preference for visually dynamic content has led to a rise in the number of brands utilizing OOH platforms, from 1,397 in 2023 to 1,718 in 2024. Notably, 25% of these advertisers are new entrants to the market.
A key driver behind this surge is the expansion of Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising, which has seen its inventory double over the past two years.
DOOH’s dynamic and measurable capabilities have made campaigns more engaging and adaptable, further enhancing their effectiveness.
“The report underscores the transformative power of data in reshaping the OOH landscape,” said Assem Memon, Founding Partner and Managing Director at AdMazad.
“With an 84% utilization rate, platforms like AdMetrics play a vital role in providing actionable insights that enable the industry to maximize its potential.”
The report also highlights significant sectoral trends, reflecting a maturing market. The real estate sector led the way, with an 85% increase in OOH spending, capturing 60% of the total market share.
The healthcare sector grew by 40%, while automotive advertising experienced a 43% rise in the number of advertisers and a staggering 155% increase in spending.
Home appliances emerged as a standout category, with a 243% surge in expenditure and a 36% growth in advertisers.
Urban zones such as the Ring Road (94% utilization), 6th of October (91%), and Sheikh Zayed (91%) showed the highest demand for OOH advertising, driven by urbanization and high traffic.
In contrast, central areas like Mohandeseen, Agouza, Dokki, and Maadi saw reduced activity, reflecting a shift toward Greater Cairo’s outskirts.
Total impressions in the OOH market reached $3 billion in 2024, marking an increase of $249 million from 2023’s $2.8 billion.
This growth underscores the sector’s potential, fueled by urban expansion and evolving consumer preferences, signaling a robust future for Egypt’s advertising industry.
