Yemen’s humanitarian crisis worsens: 19.5M need aid, says UN
The United Nations has sounded the alarm on Yemen’s deepening humanitarian crisis.
More than 19 million people are in need of assistance in 2025 — 1.3 million more than last year.
Acting U.N. humanitarian relief chief Joyce Msuya revealed 17 million Yemenis face severe food insecurity, with malnutrition affecting nearly half of children under 5.
Msuya also highlighted the devastating impact of Israeli airstrikes on the cities of Hodeida and Sana’a.
These have damaged vital civilian infrastructure, including key ports essential for food and medical imports.
Cholera outbreaks and the displacement of 4.8 million people have compounded the crisis.
