Israel pounds on Gaza and West Bank, kills scores of Palestinians
Israel’s unrelenting strikes on Gaza have killed at least 51 Palestinian in 24 hours, including infants, children, and women, the Palestinian Health Ministry reports.
A deadly Tuesday night strike hit the al-Mawasi so-called “safe zone” in Khan Younis, killing displaced residents, including seven children.
Witnesses said the dead and injured were transported to Nasser Medical Hospital in western Khan Younis using animal-drawn carts.
In the West Bank, Israeli drone strikes in Tammoun killed three Palestinians, including two children aged 9 and 10.
Since October 2023, at least 847 Palestinians have been killed and more than 6,700 others injured by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank.
Meanwhile, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has demanded that Hamas release Israeli prisoners before his inauguration, warning of severe repercussions.
Trump envoy Steve Witkoff, however, noted progress in Qatari-led cease-fire negotiations and is hopeful of an agreement by Trump’s swearing-in.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 45,936 Palestinians and wounded 109,274 since Oct. 7, 2023.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
