Deadly strikes in Gaza, Israel kills more than 70 Palestinians in 24 hours
Israel’s military has launched 34 airstrikes in the last 24 hours, killing at least 71 Palestinians including children and a journalist in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Government Media Office condemned these as “horrific crimes.”
At least 35 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since Friday dawn.
The assaults have intensified around northern and central Gaza.
Incidents have been reported near critical infrastructure such as al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where an Israeli attack killed five people and caused multiple injuries.
Confirmed reports show two separate strikes demolished family homes in Nuseirat and Deir el-Balah, killing six, among them children.
In Al-Zawaida, an airstrike killed Palestinian journalist Omar Al-Derawi and his family.
The death toll for media personnel since Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 202.
Additional strikes in Sheikh Radwan and Khirbat al-Adas killed five people and caused several injuries.
Central Gaza witnessed a deadly attack killing five more in a house, tent, and a civilian assembly in Deir al-Balah.
Targeting of essential facilities such as hospitals has drawn international criticism.
The United Nations has denounced such attacks and stressed medical sites must remain protected zones.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 45,581 Palestinians and wounded 108,438 since Oct. 7, 2023.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
