Turkish-American family expresses frustration after meeting Blinken
The family of a Turkish-American activist, killed by Israeli forces in September, expressed frustration after meeting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The family of deceased Aysenur Ezgi Eygi cited repeated rhetoric without meaningful action.
Eygi’s husband, Hamid Ali, compared the response to the 2003 killing of American activist Rachel Corrie. He said it is frustrating to hear the same things again.
The family urged a US-led independent investigation, dismissing the Israeli probe as lacking credibility.
Eygi’s sister, Ozden Bennet, criticised the Biden administration for failing to offer condolences or pressure Israel to conclude its investigation.
She called on Blinken to publicly hold Israel accountable before a potential change in US leadership.
Ali emphasized that changes in Israel’s military conduct have failed to prevent such incidents.
