Bangladesh’s transitional government seeks unity against foreign misinformation
The transitional government of Bangladesh led by Muhammad Yunus has issued a call for national unity to combat propaganda against the country, allegedly spearheaded by India.
During a recent address to political parties, Yunus highlighted the importance of unity beyond political lines to preserve national integrity.
The government’s law adviser, Asif Nazrul, reported the meeting resulted in a consensus to reduce foreign interference in Bangladesh’s affairs.
This also involves reviewing treaties perceived as unfavorable, including the Rampal Power Plant agreement with India.
This move comes after a ban on the broadcast of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s speeches.
Hasina fled to India in August amid a deadly student uprising that left approximately 1,500 dead and more than 20,000 injured.
