At least 50 Palestine supporters arrested by Capitol police
U.S. Capitol Police arrested at least 50 demonstrators during a “Free Palestine” protest inside the Hart Senate Building in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
Protesters called for a cease-fire in Gaza, as well as an end to U.S. arms sales to Israel.
Israel has launched a large-scale ground operation in northern Gaza to allegedly prevent Hamas from regrouping.
Palestinians, however, accuse Israel of seeking to occupy the area and forcibly displace its residents.
More than 2,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 6,000 others injured in the Israeli onslaught in the past month and a half, according to local health authorities.
