Arab-Islamic summit calls for immediate cease-fire and humanitarian aid in Gaza
An Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has urged the U.N. Security Council to implement a binding resolution for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and urgent humanitarian aid.
The summit, attended by the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.
The final statement praised Egypt’s and Qatar’s efforts, alongside the U.S., for facilitating a cease-fire, while holding Israel accountable for violating agreements.
Leaders warned the conflict, which has caused significant civilian casualties, could escalate further unless decisive international action is taken.
The summit condemned Israel’s collective punishment tactics, including blockades and starvation in Gaza.
It called for an independent international investigation into Israeli actions.
