Jets fire head coach Robert Saleh for wearing Lebanese flag patch
The New York Jets have fired Head Coach Robert Saleh, who was escorted from the premises by security after the decision.
This comes in the wake of Saleh wearing a Lebanese flag patch on his arm during Sunday’s game in London.
Saleh, who was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, made history as the NFL’s first Muslim head coach.
He is of Lebanese descent.
Before joining the Jets, he spent four years as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, where he earned a reputation for his defensive strategies.
Jets owner Woody Johnson, known for his support of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, hired Saleh in 2021.
In a brief statement, Johnson expressed gratitude for Saleh’s dedication and hard work over the past 3-and-a-half years.
