Maryland woman sentenced to 18 years for Neo-Nazi power grid attack plot
A white supremacist woman in Maryland has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for conspiring with a neo-Nazi leader to attack Baltimore’s power grid.
Sarah Beth Clendaniel pleaded guilty in May to plotting sniper attacks on electrical substations.
Federal prosecutors say these aimed to disrupt power in the majority-Black city and create widespread chaos.
Clendaniel conspired with Brandon Russell, who is co-founder of a Florida-based neo-Nazi group.
The two planned to inflict significant damage on the regional power grid.
During the sentencing hearing, Clendaniel openly acknowledged her enduring Nazi beliefs, which she adopted at age 13, but pledged to never act on again.
